Its safe to say that most of the females I know or met in my life would find this a very scary and daunting thing to do. NO MAKEUP ON SOCIAL MEDIA?! Being a makeup artist this is a big deal and I know a few years ago I would not have the confidence to do something like this. </p> <p>Women hide behind a mask with their makeup, so much so that it becomes something they cannot live without. I believe makeup has a time and a place. To glam yourself up for that special function, or express your artistic side. I do not believe that makeup should be used cover insecurities to such an extent that women can’t step out of the house without it.</p> <p>Everyday I am inspired by those around me - my partner, my friends, my family, my clients, even just strangers who pass by. Recently I have been very inspired by Taryn Brumfitt. For those who don’t know her, Taryn is the founder of the Body Image Movement - a movement created to attempt to change the negative body image in current society and teach people how to love themselves. </p> <p>I wanted to take a leaf out of her book and attempt to also use myself as an example to help others change their perceptions. I wanted to show everyone, that yes I am not perfect - I have imperfections like everyone else - dark bags under my eyes, pigmentation, freckles & brows lacking in fullness. But this is me - I am comfortable to walk out of the house like this and I am comfortable in my natural skin. My partner sees this side of me most of the time and he loves me just the way I am - without all the makeup…so why shouldn’t I? </p> <p>So my message is: try to discard this perception that only with makeup, you can look and feel beautiful. Take a makeup whip to your face and try to get rid of your misguided insecurities with makeup and learn to love your natural self. Have one non makeup day a week and slowly venture out future and future as you begin to feel more confident.
